Oil Painting Start to Finish, Warm Light, Cool Light

This workshop will use still life as a means to study light, an artist’s greatest gift. The first 2 days students will paint from “warm” studio light. The next 2 days, students will paint from “cool” north daylight. The set ups will be for smaller studies. The purpose is to understand the difference between the two different temperatures of light and the effect it has on color relationships. Students of all levels will find these studies valuable no matter what subject matter they may ultimately wish to pursue.

Susan Diehl’s passion for painting comes across in her exuberant teaching style. Her studies began in earnest when she met Ron Lucas and studied in the Russian impressionist style, learning painting skills in the time-honored tradition of mentor to student. Believing that knowledge is the foundation for any worthwhile endeavor, Diehl is excited to pass on information that was crucial to her development as a painter. Her work has been in national and international juried shows and has won numerous awards. She is currently represented by Long Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ.
