What you need to know to take a portrait or figure workshop.

Saturday will cover the portrait,  Sunday  the figure. Materials, setup and questions to prompt the instructor and to get the most out of the workshop or class you are taking.

We will cover various compositional arrangements and ways to start a painting. We will have a model (extra model fee) and explore on how to get the best out of the view you have of the model.
Liana will answer all the questions and make the experience of taking a portrait or figure workshop a little smoother and easier.

Liana has been teaching art classes and doing commissioned portrait work for over twenty years. She enjoys all styles of painting from abstract to representational. She attended Art Center School and Chouinard Art Institute (California Institute of the Arts) . She was named Artist of the Month by Artist's Magazine.

As a working artist and a teacher, Bennett says she's constantly learning from her students. "A teacher once told me that to teach is to learn twice. And every word of that is true. Because I've had to teach my students all the basic fundamentals, I have a concrete foundation for my own work," Bennett says. But more than her technique has been strengthened by her experience. "I'm not just happy, I'm extremely fortunate because I've been able to earn money doing what I do best and love the most.”Liana owns the Arts Umbrella in Bothell, Wa.
